Over 500 People Are Killed by Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon

According to local authorities, Israel launched widespread airstrikes on Hezbollah for the second day in a row on Tuesday, killing over 500 people and forcing tens of thousands more to escape their homes in southern Lebanon. In response, the militant organization backed by Iran fired rockets into Israeli territory.

  • The health ministry of Lebanon reports that at least 1,835 people have been injured and at least 558 people have died thus far, including 50 children and 94 women.

  • Tens of thousands of residents have also been forced to evacuate southern Lebanon due to the bombardment and seek safety in Beirut, the nation’s capital.

  • The Israeli Defense Forces declared on Tuesday that they were carrying out a fresh round of airstrikes, following their pretense of hitting 1,300 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

  • According to the IDF, the actions were directed towards Hezbollah’s alleged strategic capabilities, which were concealed behind civilian residences and villages.
  • Early on Tuesday, the militant group launched a flurry of rockets at northern Israel in retaliation for the aerial bombardment, allegedly targeting military locations including an explosives factory.
